This is how they get you, this is why people don't come back to certain things. Designers have to make sure they are not; for lack of better words, going to piss off consumers.

Sustainability Article

I found a great article that talks about how a lot of brands are trying to create more sustainable solutions for packaging. Can read it HERE.

Packaging is the Product

Why is it that the packaging can't be the product, or why can't it help and work in favor of the product. I think this is a smart packaging design. You can mail, say a shirt in the box, and the box fold into a hanger for the shirt. SMART

Re-use!

I found this a very smart idea. I like to always think about the long term of packages. It would be great if things can be reused instead of just thrown out. Not all packaging can be as green as we want it to be based on what it is sometimes. So why not make the packaging useful. This idea here of a reusable pot is pretty amazing.

Bye-bye Glue

A question I always raise with myself is, does there really have to be glue? When I create a package I try to use as little glue as I possibly can. I ask myself can I create a friction fit? Is there something else I can use? These are a few random things I came across where something other then glue was used. In a lot of rice packaging the bags are stitched up with thread, so why not try that with other products like noodles etc? And hey, why not use something like metal tabs instead of glue too? They're reusable and makes things easy to open.

ECOVATIVE!

They have recently created something that would be perfect for my packaging idea. One of the bigger deals with packaging is styrofoam. That stuff is not biodegradable. But EcoCradle is!
Thats right! Its made of seed husks and mushrooms and can act as a substitute for styrofoam.
Best part about this? I can actually order a sample and its only 5 bux! Definitely worth the buy to see it in person, hope shipping isn't too harsh!
Moo's Green Paper

Moo Prints, came up with their own Green Paper Solution for their business cards. Personally having gotten cards from them on the 'green paper' you can really see that it does not compromise the integrity of the print job at all. In fact the cards are very sturdy and the colors are very nice. Moo has been trying to move in a very sustainable direction.

Taste Of Ink
One Size Fits All

Stumbled across this awhile ago, great design concept by Patrick Sung
It's a sheet of cardboard that has perforated triangles in it to that it can bend to fit pretty much anything.
